How does the wood-fired hot tub work?
Fill the tub with clean water until it covers the stove, light it with dry wood, and allow 2 to 4 hours heating time. Stir the water regularly so the heat distributes evenly.
Heating up
- Fill the tub with clean tap water until well above the stove or heating element.
- Check that the water level is high enough before lighting a fire: heating with too little water will damage the stove.
- Light a fire using dry, untreated wood.
- Stir the water every half hour; otherwise, the heat remains at the top.
- Allow 2 to 4 hours, depending on the outdoor temperature.
Whether you need to add chlorine or another agent varies per house and depends on the filtration system. Follow the instructions displayed in the house; do not add anything on your own initiative.
The stove and chimney become very hot. Do not let children play near the tub unsupervised and never leave the fire unattended. Do not enter the tub if the water temperature is above 40 degrees, and avoid combining the hot tub with alcohol.
