how we choose
A house only joins us when it has something of its own.
A windmill we rebuilt into a group house, forest cabins among the trees in Rekem, a farmhouse looking out over the hills and suites on the river Maas. We look at what makes a house its own, not at the number of bedrooms. If a house only ticks the boxes, we leave it out.
We stay within one area: from the banks of the Maas in Belgian Limburg to the hills of South Limburg, with the Hoge Kempen national park on the edge. That is how we know which terrace catches the morning sun, where the baker opens at seven and which path turns muddy after rain.
